ECCM is the only organization in Erie County that performs intake for supports coordination for individuals of all ages who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which includes eligibility determination and support coordinator assignment. We are also a Pennsylvania Adult Autism Waiver supports coordination provider.
The Autism Division at ECCM provides supports coordination services to help individuals with autism realize their dreams of independence throughout all stages of their lives. We work very closely with state and local government agencies as well as direct autism service providers as the “center of the system”.
Following the “Everyday Lives” approach, our autism support coordinators will help individuals navigate their way through a system designed to meet their needs in a community setting, often in their own homes. They will work with individuals and their families to identify desired life goals and work to find community and paid supports to achieve these outcomes.
Eligibility for autism supports coordination requires:
As the "center of the system", our intake department will initially meet with all individuals seeking services from the Autism Division to begin the process of deciphering and navigating these guidelines and bettering their lives. Referrals can come from a number of sources, including the individual or their family. At the point of initial contact, our staff will explain the process, collect demographic data, and may request other documentation such as birth certificates and social security cards.
After the initial meeting, follow up activities include review and documentation of the individual’s educational, medical, social and psychiatric histories as well as a general review of the individual’s current autism support and service needs. If necessary, intake staff will direct an individual where they can obtain the required Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis assessment and medical evaluation. A functional assessment may also be completed by ECCM intake staff.
(As per ODP Guidelines.)
The Adult Autism Waiver (AAW) in Pennsylvania is a Medicaid waiver program meant to offer adults age 21 or older with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) long-term autism services and supports for community participation based on their individual needs. ECCM is a Pennsylvania Adult Autism Waiver Support Coordination provider. Contact us to learn more about how we can help you get started.

Within the first meeting, our staff will explain what to expect throughout this process, collect demographic information of the referred individual, and may request additional information such as a birth certificate or a social security card.
The next step includes reviewing and documenting the referred individual’s education, medical, social, and psychiatric histories. Our staff will also need a general review of the individual’s current support and service needs.
If an individual that is referred for this service has not yet been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) based on the guidelines specified above, intake staff will direct them to where they can obtain the required diagnosis assessment and medical evaluation. A functional assessment (link to screening and assessment page) may also be completed by ECCM intake staff.
